GENIA MINACHE (1907-1972) Born in St Petersburg, Minache was evacuated after the Russian Revolution and finally settled in Paris, taking French nationality. One of a handful of well_known female book illustrators, she studied art at the 'Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs'. Her paintings are rooted in the exotic flourish of orientalism, often highly coloured, and tinged with eroticism. |
