ANDRE DIGNIMONT ( 1891-1965 ) One of the most prolific book illustrators in France in the C20, André Dignimont used his intimate knowledge of Parisian life to paint a colourful picture of the people and culture of the French capital, from high society portraits to low life of the streets, from the cafes and bars to the theatre and the parks. He was responsable for the illustrations in popular editions of classic works as well as more accomplished watercolours and designs for limited edition publications. |
