Three short stories by Vassily Photiades, Swiss artist ( of Greek extraction) and friend of Félix Vallotton, here illustrated by the acclaimed Parisian engraver, Demetrios Galanis ( also Greek by birth ) , with 3 full-page plates, title vignette and and 7 text illustrations. All profits from the book were to be allocated to a fund for French war orphans, and the copper plates for the engravings were destroyed after printing. Edition limited to 261 copies in total - this copy one of 180 'ordinary' copies, numbered 67 and SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Paperbound, as issued, shadow lines from sun fading to front cover, but an good collector's copy, the pages largely unopened. |
